hot air balloon, letting go, cutting stringsYesterday is over. Today is a new day, filled with new opportunities and challenges.

A few days ago I decided that I was going to be leaving my job. (Yes, in these times of economic issues). The job had gotten to a point where I would wake up early or in the middle of the night with anxiety; not a good place to be. When I called work on Saturday to find out my schedule for the next week, all I got was a “All I have for you is next Tuesday.” Not even a “hello” and the phone went dead, we have caller id so he knew it was me. Of course I was upset, both by the lack of hours and the lack of common courtesy. Again, not a good place to be and definitely not very “spiritual” for me to feel that way, but I’m human. I thought, “I have to turn this thinking around.” So, I sat down and wrote a sincere “thank you letter.” Here’s most of what I wrote (I never delivered this, it was my shift in perspective that brought the changes):

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity you provided me. I was able to step back and look at what was really important to me. With all the time I wasn’t scheduled to work, I put 100% effort into my own businesses. They have really grown with the effort I have put in and I am thankful for that. Living life with a positive attitude is the only way to find true happiness.”

I truly meant what I wrote and put all my attention into those thoughts. I went to bed to read a book I had picked up earlier that a student recommended (I’ll get back to this). A little while later I received a phone call from someone I had met about a month previously. We had discussed a business idea together. He hadn’t been able to find my phone number but had just run across it. Hmmm… We are getting together this week to throw around ideas.

Tuesday turned negative at work. I quit, not out of anger but out of respect for myself. When I got home I found out that I had been given a second day a week offering intuitive readings at a local store. Hmmm…

Every challenge in life offers two paths, always. It is our choice to either choose the positive or the negative. The positive path always feels good, it brings happiness and joy. It means we are following our bliss. We attract more positive into our lives. Our lives fill with abundance. We allow the flow.

The book I picked up is “Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires” by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Reading, I am realizing that the words are a validation to what I have been working on applying to my life. Following are a couple passages from the book that really stood out for me so I am sharing them.

“When you are consciously aware of your own thoughts, and you are deliberately offering them, then you are the deliberate creator of your own reality…”

“That is the optimal creative vantage point: To stand on the brink of what is coming, feeling eager, optimistic anticipation–with no feeling of impatience, doubt, or unworthiness hindering the receiving of it–that is the Science of Deliberate Creation at its best.”

“Your vibrational Universe has the Law of Attraction as its basis. That means that your Universe is about inclusion. When you give your attention to something that you desire and you say yes to it, you are including it in your vibration. But when you look at something you do not want and you say no to it, you are including it in your vibration. When you give no attention to it, you do not include it, but you cannot exclude anything that you are giving your attention to, because your attention to it includes it in your vibration, every time, without exception.”

Yes, we are in trying, difficult times right now. There are a lot of changes taking place. Create the life you want. Find the positive, let abundance and happiness flow into your life. And, life is really fun when the messages or synchonicies flow… this song played this morning, a gentle reminder for me to let go of yesterday…

I salute your honesty and courage and wish you well on your brave soul journey. Good for you for listening to your heart and letting go, and letting go without hate.

Love the bit about what we focus on as opposed to what we don’t focus on. Interesting insight.

I also love almost anything Cat Stevens and hadn’t heard this song for a long time.

Enjoyed the whole post, but was especially moved by your courage to more on from your old job. Many can’t even think of doing that, let alone actually do it. But I believe we are all being asked now to listen to our hearts cry and honor it. Much positive change will come about from doing so.

Cat Stevens is a classic musician and timeless inspiration. Change is something human beings can evolve to welcome regardless of their own situations.
