It has been a busy first part of 2009 for me so far. My Reiki classes and practice has been steadily growing. I’m sure that a big part of this is because I haven’t “bought into” the media. Although aware that society is going through a much needed transformation, I have made it my choice to stay in the positive. See my previous post: Making a choice to tune-out negativity.
More importantly, embrace change. Allow yourself to grow and expand during these times.
I have recently enrolled in an Integrated Ecology and Applied Ecopsychology program from Project NatureConnect at the Institute of Global Education.
“Nurture your felt love or respect for nature. Never deny it. That love is nature’s voice, our origins in nature, the eons, the purifying intelligence, beauty and diversity of natural systems sustaining us in their perfection. It is the root source of our deeper hopes and ideals.”
“Our excessive disconnection from nature’s attractive and intelligent perfection underlies the insanity of our suffering, greed and destructiveness. Unadulterated natural systems seldom suffer them.”
“To recover our sanity, we must reconnect our psyche with nature’s genius and restore its strength and peace in our consciousness, thoughts and soul.” ~Michael J. Cohen
I will be posing more about Ecopsychology in the future.

I thought of you the last few days and am so excited that you are expanding into the whole area. And yes, Michael J. Cohen is wonderful. I have some of his books. I hope we see more counselors making this connection and just people in general. I loved the quote you pasted here. Another person who was one of the founding fathers of earth-based theology is Thomas Berry. He endorsed the book I just wrote sent off to my agent. He must be in his 80s or 90s now but was light years ahead of his time. A remarkable man. There are so many in this field. Have you heard of Jensen. I can’t think of his first name as it’s been a long long day.
Anyway, I’m just so proud of you and very excited for you. I hope to hear how it all goes. It’s very important work you are doing.
Many hugs,
Robin
